Has it ever happened to you?
The groundswell of fear swallows you up, knocking you to your knees and sucking the life out of you like a Dementor.
It leaves you (actually) shaking in your boots and ALMOST unable to cope…
I am not talking about the fears to do with running a successful business or taking on everyday challenges: everyday-type life fears.
I am talking about the fear that is stitched into the very DNA of your body.
You don’t realise it is there until it is awoken by a ‘health-scare’…
Yes…I am talking about the fear when your normal, everyday, taken-for-granted, and functioning body shifts and sort of ‘goes wrong’ in some way.
We all have family fears of illness…My deep-seated absolute dread and fear is anything related to neurological conditions like Multiple Sclerosis (MS). My father developed MS when I was 2 years old and he died when he was only 54.
On the whole, my cup is always half-full. I live an optimistic life that I AM free from this horrid condition.
But, we are only human. So, if something happens to you that threatens the very foundation of your blissfully hopeful stance of being safe and okay; the tapestry of interwoven health-fear within you can unpick itself in an instant and show you what ‘fear’ is REALLY like.
The fear that threatens your very identity and self that you have grown attached to (but did not realise until health fear showed it to you).
I was left rocking on the bathroom floor, hugging myself and trying to soothe myself. The very me I have grown fond of these past few months: only realising it at that moment in time.
Why can it take a dark moment to reveal the light?
Positive affirmations and compassionate words wash over me to try and keep me safe.
But, I am afraid! I am REALLY afraid…more than any challenge or fear I have had to overcome, to get me to the place I am at today.
I just want to feel normal again…like I did only three days before….until this thing invaded my body and awakened my deep-seated fear.
I have been here once before. I don’t like it AT ALL. This is just a different presentation.
Thankfully, things are improving….They must!… With rest and taking care, I am on the mend.
I do not want to seek medical help, as careless words from overworked and stressed health professionals could, right now, damage me beyond repair.
Let’s just see what happens. All is well and I am improving.
My mind and stress are overthinking this….on this occasion. But, I know where the professionals are if I need them.
So, what’s my point here?
My point is that our bodies are beautifully oiled machines that work hard for us EVERY day.
We can often forget about our body; take advantage of it, criticise it, abuse and devalue it with unhealthy food, poor sleep, inactivity, etc.
So, I invite you to thank your body every day.
Express gratitude while you look after it, nourish it, exercise it, and love it with ALL its imperfections.
We are all flipping amazing!!
You never know what is around the corner in life…but if you treasure the body you already have and do your best to nurture and respect it, you stand a better chance of remaining healthy and well.
On a moment-to-moment basis…connect with your body, self-soothe, and be kind to it.
So, all you Solopreneurs out there, remember YOU and YOUR body in all of this crazy world of work and life!
If you can resonate with these words, then I invite you to share this blog post with a social media preference of your choice.
Thank you.
