A stitched field

I have spent the last few months stitching this cloth.

Lines have wandered across it. Colours have gathered and changed direction. Some areas have become dense, while others have been left almost untouched.

This week I wore it out into the field.

Standing amongst the dry grasses, something I have been thinking about while stitching became clearer.

A field is made from thousands of ordinary things growing alongside one another.

The cloth has grown in much the same way.

One stitch changes very little.
Thousands gradually become a landscape.

I think this is what I have been stitching all along.
